Adding a Single Page to Your Blog
Stomod allows you to add individual pages or to map a whole Notion database of pages, posts, tags and authors to the platform.
What’s the difference between pages and posts?
A page is a non-chronological piece of content i.e. it is published and updated periodically in time and can be hierarchically organized. For e.g. an “About” page or a “Contact” page.
A post on another hand is chronological in order and is part of the blog component of Stomod. Blog posts are what are shown on the homepage of your blog. You can set to have a page displayed on your homepage instead by setting it as homepage.
Another notable difference between pages and posts is that posts can be assigned tags whereas pages do not allow tags to be added to those.
For this guide, we are going to add a single page to our blog and make it our homepage. This will override the default behaviour of a Stomod blog and will not show blog posts on the homepage once set.
To add a page, navigate to the “Pages” section on your blog dashboard as shown below:
Add a Page
You can only add standalone pages. This feature is not available for blog posts, authors, tags. To add a standalone page, click on the plus sign to add one:
Add your page details
Enter your page details. You need to provide the publicly shared link of your Notion page. To find out how to share a Notion page publicly, please refer to the official Notion guide.
Enter your page slug as well. Your page slug is the link at which your page will be available on the internet. e.g. https://<yoursubdomain>.stomod.com/<your-page-slug>
View Page Live
Your page will now have been added to your Stomod blog and can be viewed by clicking on the … menu action button and clicking on “View Live”:
Page Actions
From the “…” menu action button you can perform several additional actions:
Change to full page template
Change the template used for displaying the page to a full page template which does not include the the page title, table of contents and author information. Useful for creating landing pages.
Set as Homepage
Set the selected page as a static home page for the blog. This is useful if you want to have a landing page at your blog address https://<yoursubdomain>.stomod.com and then have your blog at https://<yoursubdomain>.stomod.com
Edit in Notion
Click on this action button will open up the Notion page in Notion where you can edit it easily. You must be logged into Notion to be able to edit your page.
Delete Page
This allows you to delete a page which has been added from the blog.
